About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Laugh, sing, eat!
ABOUT ME
I'm a musician born and raised in Southern California.
I love casual hang outs and laughing with good company. I love eating and talking about great food as I eat. Aside from music, I listen to a lot of sports talk radio.
I'm a positive person who smiles a lot. I'm a natural introvert who's gotten pretty good at standing in front of choirs to sing, talk, or wave my arms about.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in the power of the expressive human voice and the beauty of voices united in music. I've devoted my life to singing and directing choirs because the choral experience has so much to teach us about the human condition, teamwork, discipline, imagination...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I heard about Couchsurfing from a friend who moved to Los Angeles from the east coast. It sounded like a pretty useful resource, but after browsing the website and watching the video, I was amazed & excited to try it out! It's a great way to connect with people and have experiences that you wouldn't normally have.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Over the summer of 2012, I packed my car and drove from coast to coast: California to Maryland. I'd lived in Southern CA my entire life, but moved to MD to start my D.M.A. Along the way, I surfed with some amazing Couchsurfers. Every experience was unique and memorable.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing the World Expo in China 2010 was pretty incredible. I've never been surrounded by so much brilliant architecture.
Conducting The Sunday Night Singers at the 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati. They sang with such beauty and intensity and their performance earned first prize in the Mixed Chamber Category.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've gathered plenty of knowledge about music and singing, but I have to remind myself that thinking too much often gets in the way. Especially in performance. When I worry about a certain phrase, or focus too much on an individual component of technique (breathing, posture, tongue position, etc), things start to go wrong. I've found that it's best to form a simple intention in my mind, and then allow my body take care of the details. Our bodies are miraculous instruments worthy of our trust!
