Hi, I'm Allana

I am currently travelling around the world with my boyfriend James for 10 months (Jan 17 - Nov 17). I finished my degree in Mathematics at Southampton University and then went straight to work where I met James and became a qualified accountant. 3 years of work and I was done being envious of other people travelling so we organised an epic year off work (orientated around the British and Irish Lions Rugby Union tour in New Zealand) and here we are.

James is a Marine Biologist turned Accountant who loves all sport. If there is any sport to be played, watched or discussed he'll be involved (hence our winter stop in NZ). Our joint interest in marine life has led to a lot of snorkelling and scuba diving in some of the most amazing places around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are a bit late on using Couchsurfing as we are already 7 months through our travels but thought South America may be a great place to start. We love meeting local people and immersing ourselves in the culture of any countries we visit. Others we have met on our trip have said how perfect Couch surfing would be for us and we are excited to see what we can experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Allana: When it comes to music I am not very knowledgable so I like to get recommendations from people, buy the album and listen to it in the car, I have discovered Frank Turner and Kodaline which I love. Movies I love all Disney and all Super Hero films. Books I am currently reading Game of thrones on James' recommendation. I loved Harry Potter, the girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy and the hunger games trilogy. One of the best books I have read has to be A Thousand Splendid Suns.

James: I love music and whilst I can play a number of instruments I, unfortunately, play none of them well. I'll happily listen to anything as my Spotify playlists would attest to but my favourite genre is probably ska.

Similarly with movies I have a fairly broad taste although I draw the line at horrors. Not a fan of them in the slightest.

Huge fan of Tolkien and have read most if not all of the available works on Middle Earth. Unsurprisingly my favourite book is The Hobbit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before becoming an accountant I represented Great Britain for gymnastics and cheerleading. In 2008 all my hard work paid off and I was proud to stand with my team mates listening to the national anthem, as we won gold in the European Championships for tumbling.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are nice people who love to explore new places. As well as seeing new places we want to learn about the culture and way of life of those countries we visit so more than happy to share customs or stories of where we have been so far. Although we are not very good we both love food and enjoy cooking so would be happy to trade dishes in the kitchen.
