About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get to know as best as I can this piece of paradise that we know as Planet Earth! So far so good as I have visited 101 countries so far!

ABOUT ME

Im very easygoing, and one of my biggest passions is to travel, see new places and cultures and meet people from all over the world!!!

I have travelled quite a lot in the last 20 years, and in my second backpacking trip to Europe I stayed with more than 10 diferent people from CS/HC, it was quite an amazing experience. It kind of made me see the world and human kind itself in a different way, I was so amazed how people can be so nice, hospitable and trustful. I was so happy with that experience that I wanted more...Since travelling is in my blood and seeing the world was probably the bigggest dream of my life, I just decided to do a tour all over the world, 10 months visiting about 20 countries and staying with fellows from the club everywhere it was possible! I returned from this trip on may/06 and had the time of my life.

After so many trips the "bug" had bited me and the "disease" became an adiction, so I decide to look for a job that would allow me to keep travelling and so I did...I got a job as a photographer on a cruise ship, and have been to places like the Caribbean, Alaska, Central America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Ocenia and even Antarctica with the ship.

In my holydays in between ships I always tried to travel as well, cause backpacking for me is the real way to travel visited places like Cuba, Mexico, Costa Rica, Siberia, Mongolia, China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Easter Island, French Polynesia, etc.

In 2011, after 5 years working at sea, I decided I had enough and together with an ex-girlfriend f mine took a sabbatical year in 2012 and ewent travelling in Asia for almost 9 months!!! On this trip visited Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Iran, Turkey, Romania and Ukraine!!!

So, when I went back to Brazil I decided to work as a tour guide, as well as a photographer!!! So, that´s what I do today, work as a local guide in Rio de Janeiro from december to April and as tour leader in Europe from May to October, which means I lead organized tours with brazilian people.

I am a deep enthusiatic of the club, and love to host as much as love to been hosted, but nowadays it´s been a bit hard cause I live in a such a tiny studio. But when I´m in Rio I can definatelly show people around if I´m not busy working...love to show the off the beaten track spots!!!

PHILOSOPHY

=>I would rather regret for something I did than for something I didn't have the courage to do!!!

=>Dreams were made to be realized and not only to be dreamed!!!

=>O que a gente leva da vida é a vida que a gente leva (what we take from this life is the life we live)

=>CARPE DIEM!!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have lived and studied in Vancouver - Canada for 3 months (2002). Also travelled 3 weeks in a backpacking trip across the country, coast to coast.
In 2003 I lived and worked in California, at Yosemite National Park in an exchange program.
Right after that I flew to Europe, where I spent 2 months backpacking in Ireland, England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Holland.
In the end of 2003 I had another working season in the USA, I worked from 12/03 to 04/04 in a ski resort called Stratton, in Vermont.
After saving some money there, me and my ex-girlfriend decided to spend it in Europe again, this time we decide to go to Greece and watch the Olympic Games, so we spent 10 days in Athens during the Games and another 10 days in the wonderful Greek islands (Lefkada, Ios, Santorini and Milos).
And since we were in Europe we decide to visit other places so we went also to Italy (Milano, Pisa) Austria(Vienna) Czech Republic (Prague), Denmark (Copenhagen), Sweden (Stockholm), Holland (Amsterdam), France (Paris), Switzerland (Geneve, Zurich and Luzern), Spain (Barcelona) and Morocco (Chefchaouen, Fés and Marrakech)!
I spent 65 days in this amazing trip and in almost all the places we stayed with people from HC. We had the chance to meet so amazing people, that we will never forget!
In december 2004 I went back to the ski resort I worked the year before in Vermont / USA. After another profit working season I decided to do once more what I do best and what I have been doing for the last few years: travel! But this one was quite bigger...Along with a journalist friend I did an around the world tour that took 10 months (from july/05 to may/06). In this trip we visited South America, Eastern Europe, Asia and Oceania. No need to say how great it was, and in many, many places we stayed with HC. This club rules!
In 2007, when I had my first vacation from the ship (10 months) I went to Cuba, Mexico and Costa Rica.
In 2008, I did a 5 months trip in Asia, starting with the Transiberian in Moscow all the way to Irkutsk (to see Lake Baikal) and than Mongolia, China (where I saw the Olympics in Beijing),Tibet, Nepal and finally finish it in India.
In 2009, I did a smal trip to celebrate my 30 years using the air miles gathered in all those trips, went to easter Island and French Polynesia where I only stayed with CS members.
In 2010 I went back to Bolivia and Peru and 2012 did a great trip in Asia, visiting Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Iran and Turkey!!!
In 2014 I had a trip to go to Greece, Israel, Jordan, Holland and Norway/Sweden to see to the Northern Lights!!!
In 2016 spent a month in Japan, 2 weeks in Mianmar and a week in South Korea!
In 2019 spent 3 months in Tuscany studying italian.
In 2019/2020 spent 3 1/2 months in Africa visiting Madagascar, Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania, in one of the most epic trips of my life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling the World

Teach, Learn, Share

“A man needs to travel. By his own means, not by stories, images, books or TV. By his own, with his eyes and feet, to understand what he is. To some day plant his own trees and give them some value. To know the cold to enjoy the heat. To feel the distance and lack of shelter to be well under his own rof. A man needs to travel to places he doesn’t know to break this arrogance that makes us see the world as we imagine it, and not simply as it is or may be. That makes us teachers and doctors of what we have never seen, when we should just be learners, and simply go see it.”
