Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed in Perm, hosted in Moscow and Washington DC, met folks in Syria, Jordan, Azerbaijan. Every time it was cool.

Interests

For many years I used to work as a staff reporter in a big newspaper in Moscow but last year I applied to the University of Oxford, moved to the UK and started working on a PhD in cultural anthropology.
Despite this, I still feel like a dilettante with very artificial knowledge of every subject that I've ever learned, from philology and philosophy to history and sociology.
The only thing which I'm really good at is a table talk on any of these topics.

Completely changed my life in my 30's.
Have seen two of my non-fiction book published.
Have moved alone to totally unknown countries twice, and now feel local everywhere in the world
Have visited 50+ countries already, and now prefer to see people instead of sights.
Made friends in dozens of countries.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Walks in Oxford, tours to university colleges (closed to the public), excursions to the local pubs and coffee shops, talks about everything that matters.
