About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To get a sense of where the world is and where it's going.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Chicago, IL, and wanted desperately to go westward. So after high school I attended the University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I got a cushy job as a defense contractor, and after maybe four months I was sick of cubicles and security clearances so I quit. I'm taking the next year off from any kind of school or work to just be an undistracted human being for once.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't be afraid of who you are and let others be who they are. If you're ever scared or embarrassed or confused then you're probably growing as a person. Risk is only an issue if it isn't handled smartly. Some of the big secrets of the world are that nobody really grows up and nobody actually knows what they're doing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Usually second-hand through my roommate; I help him show couch surfers around Los Angeles. It'd be a little redundant for me to host because we share the same couch. I'd like to hitchhike across the US soon though, and meet new friends and their couches along the way.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, not much. Hopefully more this next month.

Last year I hitchhiked from Los Angeles to New York in eleven days. And then hurricane Sandy hit!
Teach, Learn, Share
Asking someone for tips on hitchhiking is like asking a centenarian for tips on longevity. They'll give you some specific answer that they swear by, like drinking whisky everyday or not eating beef or keeping lots of pets. In reality it's mostly luck, so don't take anyone's word as scripture.
