About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy...

ABOUT ME

I'm at home in the mountains and live for adventure, but with that being said I can also totally just chill out. I'm an easy going individual with interests in most everything. I've traveled a decent amount through taking advantage of study abroad and on my own endeavors. In college I set a goal for myself that by 25 I would travel to 25 countries and 5 continents, so that's what I worked on for the first half of my 20's.

I completed that goal and moved back to NC but didn't stay long. After a somewhat rash decision, I now find myself on the West Coast in Oakland. I packed my car and my dog and set off on a journey to explore the US. I've been here over two years now and for the first time in over a decade I've stayed in a place longer than a year. This is a new type of adventure. One that involves creating a community and laying down roots. I still get out every once and a while and release that innner wanderlust. I'm always down to show people around, meet for a beer or coffee, roadtripping and always up for a hike.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It's crazy to imagine a world before Facebook, but before my college was selected, I was on couchsurfing connecting with people on a different level. I've surfed more than I've hosted but am kind of excited to settle in a place that people want to visit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met some of the most amazing people through this website and I am fortunate to have made many lasting friendships through this site. I take any chance I can get to shoot someone a message and really get to know a place and the people that live there.

Interests

Nature, Hiking, German, wandering in the woods, painting, art in general, biking, gardening/ farming. I am really into photography, learning languages, being random, laughing at anything and everything. Getting a first hand look into a culture i know nothing about. ADVENTURE!! .. Living without regrets.. laughing even when the situation looks bad. I try and stay positive above all else.

Music, Movies, and Books

A random selection of things....

Movies: The Fountain, 180 Degrees South, Die Fetten Jahre sind vorbei, I love you Man, Amelie, Into the Wild, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, V for Vendetta, Hook, Children of Men, Koyaanisqatsi, aladdin, Lion King, Little Miss Sunshine, Phoebe in Wonderland, peter pan, The Bourne Trilogy, The king of california

Music: I listen to just about everything except for death metal, but who knows maybe I just don't know the good ones.

Books: I have too many.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Buying a one-way ticket to Peru and living out a backpack for over five months.

Laughing with people where ever I go. It's amazing even when you don't speak the language and you can still communicate so much.

Living in a tent for six months in Alaska

Working next to a Glacier and listening to a wolfpack howl every night as I went to sleep in my tent

Teach, Learn, Share

I've had a lot of random jobs such as painting pet portraits and working/ living in a tent in Alaska. So a little art, chainsawing, life in the woods, some German. I learn as I go and teach as I learn... I could share some stories, but also love hearing other peoples. Let's share some good times!

The more that you read,
the more things you will know.
The more that you learn,
the more places you'll go

What I Can Share with Hosts

My sense of adventure and willingness to just go with it. My best adventures have been when late at night over beers my host and I concoct some crazy adventure. Such as the one time I went to Italy and my host said, "hey, do you want to bike to Slovenia and try and find this wine party?". I didn't bike much but I took those hills like a champ. I can also make a mean fried chicken.

Countries I’ve Visited
