About Me
Hi!
My name is Allie and am a recent Philosophy graduate, where I thought mostly about ethics. After finishing school I started working at a non profit that provides programming for kids who are in custody.
Before studying philosophy I went to a performing arts high-school for music theatre, and still like to play piano, sing and go to theatre. While in high-school, I taught singing at a free performing arts program for vulnerable youth - this is where I began interested in youth work.
I practice LOTS of yoga and have been working as a yoga teacher on the side. I like to stay active, I like nature stuff - hiking, camping, climbing etc. (come to Canada and stay with me, I'll take you hiking in the most beautiful spots) and my exposure to nature has definitely given me a passion for environmental activism.
I'm a people person, I like digging deep. My interests of getting to know people paired with an interest in politics has lead me to accept a position in school for Journalism.
I like incorporating environmentally friendly things in my home, I have recently found a new love for making pottery, and my biggest interest is reading. I'm really nerdy and like to read my university books that I didn't get around to reading while I was in school!
I think this is a community of people who understand the importance of sharing their home and exposing others to new experiences and cultures. I want my hosts to know wherever I am, you have a place to stay.
More of my interests are: Pottery, art, social justice, podcasts, reading.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Learning about each others cultures shouldn't only be for the privileged. I dig ideas of communal housing. Coming from North America (thankfully Canada) I am close to "Trump Land" and am realizing how important it is to accept different kinds of people.
