About Me

Hello humans. I’m Allie, a nature-loving, adventure-seeking fairy lady romping about this big wide world. I'm a photographer, writer, dancer, and lover of plant-based noms, hiking, coffee, and music. I was born and raised in Florida, and am currently traveling around the US with my twin flame and bestie, Jordan, writing about our adventures on my blog, Countervulture, and chronicling all the weirdness with my camera. We are artistic, curious, free-spirited wild women nourishing our highest selves through experience and connection with others. Also, we love treats. A lot.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm passionate about budget travel and love to encourage others to escape their comfort zones and discover the world. In this digital society, I value our ability to have fulfilling adventures without expensive accommodation. Couchsurfing has opened a new door for traveling on the cheap, with the priceless bonus of connecting with fellow travelers from all over the world. I want to encourage a global culture built on compassion, generosity, authenticity, and unconditional love. Couchsurfing provides an opportunity to connect with all the special people who share those values.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite books (too many to list, honestly, but here are some goodies):
• The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
• Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins
• Be Here Now by Ram Dass
• The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan
• Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
• Harry Potter series

Favorite movies:
• Moonrise Kingdom
• Arrival
• Interstellar
I love anything directed by Wes Anderson, sci-fi dystopian, or exceptionally heady. Anything with bizarre or dry humor, preferably both simultaneously. Gore makes me nauseous so horror is usually a no from me, unless it’s strictly paranormal. THAT I am about.

Music:
I love just about every genre of music, but my heart is in HOUSE, lately deep house and Chicago house. I also love bass, indie rock, prog rock, funk, jazz fusion, psychedelic rock, hip hop, world music, disco, 90s alternative, and just about every variety of electronic music I haven't already mentioned (techno, trip hop, electronica, ambient, trance, downtempo, lofi hip hop). Favorite artists these days include Late Night Alumni, anyone on Above & Beyond’s Anjunadeep label, Ott, Tame Impala, Clozee, Tipper, Zhu, ATYYA, Emancipator, Moon Boots, Erykah Badu, SwuM, and Khruangbin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I self-published my own book of poetry, Shades of Gold, in 2017. It’s super emo.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach you how to hoop, shuffle, and cook veg! I can show you new musical artists and genres I know you'll love based on your personal taste.

Learn: I'd love to learn more about plant medicine, holistic health, meditative practices, and the local flora and fauna in your area. Teach me local slang, local hang out spots, local food, local culture!

Share: Hugs, music, dance parties, meals, laughs, deep convos that will make you think and feel.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love exchanging personal experiences and travel advice with my hosts. I'm also happy to share any information I can in the realms of my skills: photography, writing, poetry, social media, English, etc.
I can also cook some tasty vegetarian and vegan meals.
I love philosophical discussion and am happy to talk for hours about any existential crisis you may be experiencing. Chances are I'm in the midst of one myself. Although I'm not religious, I'm a very spiritual being and am very interested in exploring the metaphysical realm. Yes, magic is real. Yes, I do believe in fairies and aliens and alternate dimensions. Yes, we can totally have in-depth discussions about all of the above.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Belize, Canada, China, Costa Rica, England, France, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Scotland, Switzerland, Thailand, Virgin Islands, U.S.
