About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life the fullest.

ABOUT ME

I love visiting new places, making new friends and experiencing new cultures. I am fascinated by people eating weird food in China, experiencing the chaos in India, diving in the azure blue seas of Thailand, and a hell lot more. I have always wanted to grow up to become a travel host, exploring new places and getting to try out new food and culture while looking absolutely fabulous and natural on television.

I got hook onto travelling when I went on my first solo trip to Thailand in 2009 after my "A-levels".It was the first time travelling without my family. I met several wonderful people who shared their backpacking experiences with me and this gave me a whole new perspective to life. They basically showed me how easy and cheap it was to travel.

It wasn't until 2011 that the idea really sank into my head. I was offered a 4 month long internship in a rural part of New Delhi. This internship provided me with the opportunity and time to travel around mystical states of India from trekking up mountains of Himachal Pradesh to rafting down the Ganges Rivers. It was a major turning point in my life because I discovered that it was possible to do the two things I absolutely love doing- travelling and volunteering. Also, I met the love of my love, Karl, while volunteering as a Mountain Cleaner on the mountains of Dharamshala. I came back to Singapore feeling more inspired than before- I had basically caught the travel bug and the love bug. This resulted in me scanning through Trip Advisor, SkyScanner and Hostelworld looking for cheap flights out and accommodations in neighbouring countries during my summer holidays.

Two years on, the love is still going strong so is the travel fever. I have since travelled to many countries: Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, UK, Ireland, Holland, Taiwan, Hong Kong. Freshly out of school, the norm in Singapore and in many developed countries across Asia is basically to get a job and try to make as much money to start a family. Many of the people whom I had spoken to thought I was out of my mind when I told them that I was taking a year off to go travelling around Asia. Many thought it was clearly going to be a waste of time and were sceptical how I was going to survive the one year being far away from home. So I built this website to share my travel experiences and help people see how travelling can be cheap and at the same time extremely fulfilling.

I want to inspire people to look beyond life as finding a job and then slogging 24/7 and to do things that truly make them happy. I want to inspire people to travel and explore places that are so different while volunteering at the same time. To get out of their comfort zone and to see the world beyond the comforts of their couch and television at home. I want to show that it is possible to travel without a lot of money.

This November, I will be setting out on my year long trip with Karl across Asia, starting with China>>Laos>>Vietnam>>Cambodia>>Philippines>>Indonesia>>Malaysia>>Thailand>>Myanmar>>Bangladesh>> India. Travelling with Karl would be an extremely different experience especially since it will be our first time backpacking together. I'm sure it will definitely be an enriching experience for us both.
