About Me

I’m currently traveling in Southeast Asia and am excited to meet and connect with new people! I love to “do as the locals do” as much as possible, explore places on foot and by bicycle and learn about different ways of living.

Before this nearly yearlong trip, I lived in a Colorado mountain town famous for skiing and outdoor adventuring where I worked as a newspaper reporter/photographer and in a fine dining restaurant. I'm originally from a subtropical beach area in Florida and traveled in Central America after finishing my university degree. I have also worked as an outdoor guide, and I'm passionate about sustainability, democracy, social justice and human rights.

In June, I'm planning to take an English language teaching course in the US with my partner, and then we are excited to find teaching jobs somewhere Spanish-speaking, maybe Mexico, Chile or Spain!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me, Couchsurfing is about sharing stories, ideas, laughs and smiles and gaining new perspectives.

Some day soon I'll have a couch I'll happily offer up!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of my best memories are good times and personal growth born of wonderful living situations. I've lived in houses with one roommate, three roommates and several with 10 roommates (including a guide house in Nicaragua, a farm commune in Costa Rica and a co-op in Kansas). I've also spent a little time living out of a tent, a sailboat and a van. Not all at once! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Whatever you are into, I would love if you share your passion with me! Please show me what your life is like. :) I also enjoy learning about the places we visit and would really appreciate anything you can share about the local language, culture, history or environment. Cooking, making music and exploring nature are some of my favorite things to do, and I'd love to do them with you too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food of course! I would be happy to prepare meals for you at your home or buy food and beverages to share if you prefer. Books are one of my favorite things to share! Languages open many doors, and I'd be happy to share knowledge of English or Spanish if you like. Photography is another passion, and I'd love a reason to make more photos.
