CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Allison. I graduated social work school in May and am currently looking for a job, and trying to fit in as much economical travel in before that! I studied Community Organizing in school and am interested in anti-racist social work, especially in child welfare. I read a lot and am pretty nerdy.
PHILOSOPHY
I am passionate about a lot of different issues and see the interconnectedness of things. I always try to look at the bigger picture, whatever the situation, but especially when it comes to social justice work.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Even though I have had just one CS experience so far, I have spread the word that this is a great idea. I want to get much more involved once I have a new apartment and couch!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I recently couch surfed in Panama City and had a great time. I was with a friend who had a profile so I figured I should make one for myself. I love to travel, and also show people around New York. I guess I have been a de facto couch surfing host- e.g. I met a woman from Colombia on a plane once and she stayed with me and got a tour of NY. I'm looking forward to meeting more people as an official member :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my best travel experiences was a trip to El Salvador last summer, for a human rights and history program, when we learned about the revolution, met survivors of the war, and visited important sites.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to have a host/guest who speaks Spanish so I can practice if they would like, but I also have taught ESL and appreciate that they might want to practice their English. I am genuinely interested in people and like to learn about their lives.
