Overview
About Me
I grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and now live in the city. I spent a lot of time backpacking around and living on farms. Now I work with a nonprofit teaching gardening, cooking, and nutrition to kids at a school in DC.
I travel whenever possible and love to be surrounded by new people-always trying to get a better view of their background and culture. I'm a big fan of building community and having adventures.
I think that everyone has something positive to offer, as long as you're willing to listen and be receptive!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love hanging out with new people! I love to feel and build that sense of community. Couchsurfing has allowed me to meet people from all over, and make new friends around the world. There's also little that can beat an insider's view to their own city.
Interests
I'm usually down for anything. I love to cook and gardening-those are my true passions. Sharing a meal with new friends is my ultimate love. I love music, the arts, exploring the weirdness of towns, cities, and nature. A big fan of hiking and generally spending all time outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm up for most all music. I listen to a lot of pop, soul, r&b punk, rock, folk...most anything! Let's hang out an blast some terrible mid 2000's pop punk.
Movie wise I'm down for everything ranging from emotional, critically acclaimed dramas to horrible made for TV chick-flicks.
Reading is what you should be doing. I read mainly non-fiction and memoirs. Give me a book on the environment or intersectional feminism and I'll be good.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently visited Iceland, where the definitive highlight of my trip was being dropped off on the side of a mountain in 2 feet of snow, and left there in the 25mph winds as we waited for the Northern Lights. To stay warm, I ended up in a heated discussion about politics and drinking free vodka. Nothing was ever more beautiful than watching the lights above me with one hand bracing myself from the wind on my new friend's shoulder and one hand gripping a bottle of vodka.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always open to learning even a little of a new language, or being introduced to some new music.
Likewise, I'd love to teach you a little bit of English or Sign Language, and introduce you to some new music!
I can also provide some knowledge on some baking, cooking, or martial arts
