About Me

Just finished managing a farm in beautiful, Decorah, IA and dreaming about starting my own horticultural therapy practice in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favorite part of visiting a new place is seeing it through the eyes of someone who lives there. The really touristy stuff is great, don't get me wrong, but you often don't leave those places having made new friends or feeling like you truly experienced anything new.

Interests

I love slacklining, reading, playing the ukulele, standing out in the rain, having long conversations with people preferably over food, eating my weight in anything delicious and being totally immersed in nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Lana Del Rey//Crosby Stills and Nash//Chvrches//Florence and the Machine
Will listen to anything that doesn't sound like the singer is destroying his/her vocal chords but also not incredibly picky about that either
Movies: Dirty Dancing//Benchwarmers
TV Shows {{More Importantly}}: Parks and Recreation//OITNB//HIMYM//The Office//The L Word//Friends//Gilmore Girls
I'm a serious Netflix junkie
Books: Jitterbug Perfume//Harry Potter//Little Altars Everywhere//Tibetan Peach Pie//Sword of the Land

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent the night sleeping back to back with a lion in the Serengeti. (from opposite sides of a tent, but sound of his breathing made it seem like he was in there with me}

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn how to make amazing meals and practice my German, or learn some basic Spanish. If anyone is particularly good at pool I could use a few lessons as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Willing to give slacklining, ukulele and Scottish dancing lessons to the masses. I know an inordinate amount about white nose syndrome in bats and will wax philosophic about the future of the world (environmental major problems). I love to cook and want to learn everyone's favorite recipes!!
