About Me

After graduating from college, I lived in Ghana for two years where my husband and I worked at the Pan African Christian University College. We then moved to Pasadena, California where I am currently a PhD student and also work in educational administration. Therefore, most of my traveling is linked to academic conferences. In the last couple of years, I traveled to conferences in Toronto and Vancouver and look forward to many trips in the future!

I enjoy learning about different cultures and learning to see life from new perspectives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I enjoy meeting people from around the world...and who doesn't appreciate the opportunity to meet new friends, see a new place in the world, and travel affordably!

Interests

I'm a bit of an academic nerd: I love sociology and anthropology. I'm also a runner, and I'm currently training for my second marathon (the Big Sur International Marathon). For fun, I enjoy the great outdoors (hiking!) and watching Korean dramas.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fun Book favorites: the Harry Potter series
Serious books: Anything to do with migration and religion
Music: a little of everything, in particular high life, jazz, and pop

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungee jumped at the Zambezi River (at the time, it was the highest bungee jump in the world).

What I Can Share with Hosts

We live pretty busy and crazy lives, but Pasadena is a fabulous city that is easy to navigate. We are near the metro goldline (10 minute walk) that can get you connected to just about anywhere in LA. You can crash on our couch, hang out with our pets (dog and cat), smoke a pipe on our back porch, and enjoy the SoCal weather.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Zimbabwe

Countries I’ve Lived In

Botswana, Ghana, United States
