About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel more & share music with new friends!

ABOUT ME

I live in Portland but I'm from New York, and went to college in Southern California. So I've lived in a few different places, and visited some others, but I feel like there is so much of this world that I've never seen... I need to get started! I love seeing new places and learning about them from locals. The best way to really get to know a place, I think. I work in customer service for the symphony, and I like my job. It feels good to help people out, feels good to enable others to enjoy music, which is a huge part of my life. And I work with great people who are supportive and flexible, so I can support my music habit/obsession with my work. Don't know if I want to do this forever... but then, I'm not quite sure what I want to be when I grow up anyway, so I guess I'm still figuring that out.

I'm currently chasing a dream with my boyfriend Eran. We have a duo here in Portland called Sound Semantics...all original music and you can check out what we do at www.SoundSemantics.com. Most (if not all) of my traveling is with Eran, we're trying to share our music with more people and explore the world a little bit while we're at it. If we're coming to your part of the world, chances are we're playing music there too. Always a lot of fun to stay with other musicians and find out more about the area from their point of view. Also lots of fun to stay with music lovers who are interested in what we do. But if you're not into that sort of thing, we've got lots of other interests as well... I like to cook, watch movies, go on hikes or better yet hang by a beach and enjoy the fresh sea air. Eran likes to talk current events, loves to share opinions, meet new people and find out about new perspectives on our world.

I think it's really important to respect the give-and-take of life. I've been granted the amazing gift of generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness from so many people in my life, and I definitely believe that it all comes around. If you're kind to people and willing to lend a hand, someday that hand will come back to help you out. This seems to be especially true in the music business (though sometimes you have to wait a while for the comeback... but it always shows up, eventually). But of course it's also true in "real life," and I hope that in my travels I can be a part of that cycle. Give/help whenever I can, and enjoy/appreciate the generosity of new friends along the way.

PHILOSOPHY

The description for the "personal philosophy" box says "What is your personal philosophy? Why do you live your life?"

"Why do you live your life?" is a pretty important question that I don't think I'm quite ready to answer.

I suppose right now I live for the relationships in my life. I want to connect with people... on some level, that is the most important part of everything I do. My job, my band, my hobbies. I want to say, do, make, or be something that connects to another person and makes them feel, think, wonder, learn. I guess I'm not sure where I'm going to "end up" in life but the incredible people I am meeting and collecting along the way make the journey worth it, even though I don't know where I'm going yet. And I think the journey is the whole point, anyway.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Don't have a couch to offer right now, but would be happy to meet with Portland visitors, as long as I'm here. We can go out to hear some live music, check out some of the cool spots in Portland for some killer coffee, beer, food... whatever works for you. I'm hoping to do some more surfing soon, heading out on the road to share my music with more people and would love to meet a few friendly faces and couches on the way.
