ABOUT ME
2017: Let's not talk about how I haven't updated my profile in 5 years. Currently, I am living in Salem Massachusetts looking to break into the Innkeeping/B&B business. Couch surfing started as a way to travel and meet people, that led me to a great site called help exchange dot com, which led to more travel and working overseas, which led to my love of the hospitality industry, which led to leaving New York, and now..... so I'm not hosting at the time because I don't have space to share, and that does make me sad. However, I may be hitting up some CSer's as I hop around learning as much as I can and hopefully giving back more than I get.
2012: Pushing the boundaries of body and brain. Pretty proud of the fact I was able to freelance my way through the first 6 months of this year and be able to travel for the whole summer. Of course this has meant a LOT of hard work and sometimes my will has outlasted my physical ability. However, I have dreams, and goals and determination to have what I want, and unfortunately sometimes that means sacrifice. Summer travels are looking more and more like vacation the harder I work to prepare for them. New York is an amazing, stressful, beautiful and all around overwhelming city, and with all the love and frustration I feel for it I am very much looking forward to getting out for a while... then coming back home :)
I used to be a really organized person. I feel like my file cabinet has recently been turned upside down and Im scrambling around on the floor picking up things that need to be identified and trying to remember which folder they go in...all while answering phones, making dates and deadlines, keeping up with personal relationships, and remembering to pay bills. !!! This is my life, 2011.
PHILOSOPHY
I generally like people more than anything. People are fascinating. I know each city and country has a lot to offer by way of things to see and do...but theres no way you can see and do it all, and I dont want to be so busy trying to see and do things that I miss out on building relationships. So, rather than trying to hit up every museum and pub in the city for a cultural experience, I would rather pick one of each and share that time with someone I can get to know well enough to keep in touch with for the future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I get a LOT of requests, I try to personally reply to them all, but as you can see from my description of myself, Im a little frazzled at the moment. I really love the mission of CS and support this organization wholeheartedly. I have never regretted hosting and have enjoyed everyone that has stayed with me. I hope to stay with each of these new friends in other places in the future!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Taking CS'ers along with me to stuff I do around the city, gallery openings, jazz shows, dance parties... Staying with CS'ers and experiencing local life of a place I have never been. I only hope the folks who stay with me have as much fun as when I stay with others...but then, I am easily amused!
Interests
I would normally say Art and Music, but Im so picky about these things, I can pretty much decide in 30 seconds whether I like it or not. I do however, LOVE food. I love tasting savory things and making sweet things. I generally like to cook for my hosts as a thank you, you know if you're into that sort of thing ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hopefully this doesnt sound too boring, but Im a relational person and get my kicks out of simply being around fun people. Learning to drive an old stick shift Range Rover around fields in rural Ireland; a carnival with aerial dancers in Belfast; late night hang outs in suburban Paris with a human rights activist, international business student, environmental engineer, Russian diplomat and my little brother from the Midwest...
Teach, Learn, Share
I love hearing about life in other places. Society, community, politics and causes range so differently depending on where you live, even within the US. Conversations regarding these things have been inspiring and interesting to say the least, through CS'ers, and I look forward to more of them.
I love to cook, and try interesting foods. Its rare I find something I dont like. I think having an amazing meal together can bring about the beginnings, and maintenance of beautiful friendships.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories and laughs! I love cooking for others, but I'm also a sucker for fancy cocktails and craft beer. I'm happy to cook for you or cook together or just go out and have a good time!
