About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take a chance on a stranger...let them surprise you!

ABOUT ME

I am a rather relaxed and easy going individual. I thrive on surrounding myself with good people whom I am able to draw inspiration from. I only hope I can provide them with some inspiration as well. I seek out new experiences whenever I can and try to make the best out of anything. For me, new experiences often present challenges, which I embrace as a means to learn more about oneself. Keeping a positive attitude and an open minded outlook on life is very important to me. Feel free to ask me anything, I am happy to share most anything.

PHILOSOPHY

Live your life and not someone else's. Stay true to yourself and don't be miss a chance for fear of failing. Challenge yourself, and try something new as often as possible. Learn continuously, there's always something else.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started out participating with friends back home that host people regularly. I always made a point to hang out with surfers to share experiences, encounter new perspectives, and just have a good time. Now, I host people whenever I can; I like what surfers have to offer, they always bring adventure with them. I've had the pleasure to do some surfing as well, mostly around the Maritimes. I've had a lot of fun with all the people I've met and encountered along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been involved with couch surfing for a number of years. I've hosted many people, and all good experiences. I am now back in a settled living situation and ready to start hosting again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically I like a very wide variety of genres. I can like anything from country to Indie rock, to punk to a DJ rocking out a set on the turn tables, anything that speaks to me and has feeling to it. Lots of old stuff and lots of new stuff. Typically, I will stay away from mainstream top 40s.

I have a hard time with fiction. I dont read many of them because i dont know how to pick out a good fiction. Im working on it though. I like reading history, some philosophy occasionally, things that analyzes social structures, norms and values. Like i said im interested in human behaviour

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Each summer I spend my time tree planting in the remote wilderness of northern British Columbia. BC is my home and each and every year I am amazed at the vast beauty it possess. I have had the privilege of seeing some of the most pristine and uninhabited landscapes it has to offer. This past summer I spent two weeks in an isolation camp that required our camp and (800,000 seedlings) to be flown in by bush plane, and then slung to the camp location by helicopter. Flying the northern expanse of BC in bush planes laden with gear and trees was truly spectacular. Spending three days with a small crew to set up camp, and sling in trees was an experience I will never forget. An opportunity of a life time. It was the ultimate in experience in outdoor adventure combined with a remote wilderness work environment. The following ten days planting trees also proved exciting, as I had a few adrenaline pumping encounters with the local black bears of the area. Unfortunately, one rather persistent bear had been put down to ensure the safety of our planting crews.

Another amazing thing I have seen was in October 2009 in NYC for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25th Aniversary Benefit Concert where over 6 hours I had the privilege to see Crosby Still & Nash, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springstein, along with many other special guests including, but not limited to Gerry Lee Lewis, BB King, Sting, John Fogerty, Jackson Brown, and John legend. There were more guests, but I simply cant remember them all. It was the single most amazing 6 hours of music I have ever had. The energy and the history of the music was beyond imagination. Truly another opportunity of a lifetime!
