About Me
Hi there I'm Ally I'm 18 and from Oxford, UK I'm travelling for 6 months in India before I go back to start university in England next September. I really like learning new things about India and meeting new people, just happy to be present for the experiences that travelling in this country is constantly granting you.
I like dogs, music, films & tv, politics, philosophy, history, literature, India, creative writing, drama, comedy, food, rap and sleep.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing just seems like a great way to experience India, I've been working for food and accomodation over on workaway at different places or staying at hostels and often they just make you feel like there's a bit of a distance between you as a traveller and your Indian hosts so I'd like to do a program like this where I'm properly getting to know what life is like in a place from someone who lives there (I know that sounds incredibly unimaginative but it's true) and what there opinions are of it and India and the world at large and also what food they cook at home as opposed to the simple dal and chappatti I get at workaways or the restaurant food I get while backpacking in hostels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Came to India I guess
Teach, Learn, Share
I can't teach anything particularly useful - English I suppose, although you'd have to already know enough to talk to me solely in English since I don't know any other languages.
I guess I could teach you what I know about British culture and history and literature but there are definitely better informed sources to get that all from.
I would love to learn about your culture both regionally to your part of India and more holistically about the whole country, the same goes for learning some of your local language as well as Hindi (or Tamil).
I'd also love to learn how to cook Indian food, and just generally know more Indian dishes and start to work out which ones I like and dislike.
I'd pretty much be interested in anything you could teach me about India, including some of the more active cultural stuff like yoga and meditation if you know any.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share any knowledge with you about where I'm from or who I am if you want me to, but I guess really the most important thing I can share is my attention and my focus just in order to talk or go out and do something or learn something from you, I don't know, maybe it's a pretty weak thing to be leading with but yeah I think that's the best thing I can offer.
