About Me

I spent the past ten years traveling the world as a wildlife photographer and technical diver, exploring areas no human had been and finding new species in the oceans. I got burned out with that and wanted a way to give back so was in Kenya for the good part of a year attempting to set up a charity to educate girls in the Masai Mara. That didn't go as planned so out of frustration I headed to the pack ice above Svalbard to photograph polar bears, which led to over a dozen trips to Arctic Norway over the past year. I am based in the UK where I have a son and run a business, and try to be away about half the time exploring whatever I'm interested in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love doing all the amazingly awesome Arctic winter outdoor nature friluftsliv shit but often times the most fun stuff is dangerous to do alone, like those involving avalanches or strong ocean currents or activities with bullets being fired. So it would be great to find people who are into ski touring (I always have my skis and safety gear with me), shooting, free diving, snowmobiling, hiking, etc. and I can tag along. I am new to couchsurfing, and hope I can find some new friends to do stuff with as well as a place to stay.

Music, Movies, and Books

Quite broad with entertainment and music. I do secretly wish I was a folk musician after spending time with my dad in Tennessee and North Carolina.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I gave talks in the Attenborough Studio at the Natural History Museum in London about my underwater research.

What I Can Share with Hosts

You can throw me in any part of the world and I get on with just about anybody. I'm always happy to pitch in where help is needed and I'm very adaptable. And I'll be more than happy to chop your wood :)

Countries I’ve Lived In

Egypt, Italy, Kenya, Norway, United Kingdom, United States
