About Me

Hi! My name is Allison and I'm a 33 year old Philadelphia native, but to me, home can be found in the company you keep more than places you list as an address. I am an occupational therapist currently working in a special education school in the LA area. I have been fortunate enough to work with children, families, and older adults across the US and abroad. I love what I do because I get to help people reconnect with the parts of their life that they treasure most, and support them in living life to the fullest.
I fill my cup by spending time with my friends and family (I'm an aunt to 2 adorably fierce little girls), and by spending time in nature. Sometimes that's through hiking, biking, or kayaking, other times I just like to lounge on the beach, enjoy a good book and soak up the sun and the sound of the waves. I also love to travel, which is why I'm here :). I think most of us on here share an appreciation of the buzz you feel when wandering around a new city, and how you can find belonging somewhere so far from home through the people you meet, especially when they end up becoming lifelong friends.

If I am lucky enough to be a guest in your home, I will be as respectful as I am appreciative of your space and time. I am a very tidy person, and will treat your home no differently. I would be grateful for any piece of your city or even your story that you would like to share with me :).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There is no better way to experience a new place than through the eyes of a local. Plus, the risk of the top bunk in an 8 person dorm is more than this old mare can handle.

Interests

  • museums and exhibitions
  • wining and dining
  • meeting new people and cultures
  • méditation and yoga
  • exploring new cities, enjoying nature’s splendors

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam with whale sharks in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. I also won a free flight with Thai Smile Airways once, got to hold the giant check and all!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll tell you everything you need to know about where to get the best cheesesteak in Philly, how to get in any cat's favor, and the art of sandwich making. And if we have time after that, I'll share my life lessons, spiritual beliefs, and maybe even a few embarrassing stories with you. After the sandwiches, of course.

What I Can Share with Hosts

An open heart, a zest for life, a curious mind, and of course, lots of wine.
