About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make it home in one piece

ABOUT ME

Hi! We are a couple who met many moons ago in our home town of Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. Tasmania is a beautiful island and I love telling people all about it but it is also very isolated from the rest of the world so a couple of years ago we decided to come to Europe and explore. Since then we have been living in East London and also just spent 5 months in the French Alps for the winter ski season. Sadly our Visa runs out soon so we are slowly making our way back to Australia (dragging our feet a little), hoping to visit a couple of the places we missed out on during our all too short time here.

We're both really into food, which is probably our main motivation for travelling. Then of course we also love wine (to go with our food) and adventure (to find our food) tossed in with a little bit of outdoor activity (to work off our food). Particularly, Jonnie is into surfing and I am into swimming, plus we both love cycling, skiing and hiking.

We're also into music, art and theatre so if you can suggest a local band, performance or gallery to check out we are always keen. Also we like playing card games but don't know many so always keen for a night of sharing stories and learning new games if you know any!

Anyhow, we look forward to meeting you and your couch and hope that one day we can return the favour.

Ally & Jonnie

Eat, drink & be merry

Music, Movies, and Books

Way too many to list...

Music - We like music from many different genres - from folk to electronic; classical to pop; metal to mellow.

Movies - anything with a good story line, artistic films, some favourite directors include Wes Anderson, Coen Brothers, David Lynch, etc., but there´s always a time and place for a good old action packed Hollywood blockbuster.

Books - mostly classics, or modern days that are going to become classics, the kind of book that you can't put down then when you turn the last page you continue to think about it for days after.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skiing to an overnight refuge hut in the French Alps and awaking to views of eagles, chamoix and ibex.

Teach, Learn, Share

Jonnie is a great chef and always willing to offer up a tip in the kitchen or cook a meal for our hosts even.

Ally can tell you all about Tasmania (I should be working for the toursm board!). Also, I can teach you a bit about the human body from my experience as a nurse - just don't ask for my worst nursing story, especially over dinner!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, Croatia, Hungary, Laos, Morocco, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Costa Rica, France, United Kingdom
