About Me

MISSION

Seeking and sharing the spirit of Aloha in every corner of the world, in every language and in every shape and form (as much as I can fit into this lifetime anyway).

ABOUT ME

Just moved to Phoenix, Arizona! :D

(Just think ‘Alyssa’ without the ‘a’ at the end :) )

Aloha! I’m a born and raised O’ahu, Hawaii islander moved to the states. I’m currently working on a lil project called, “Aloha All Ova,” listening and sharing the stories of everyday strangers who cross my path. You can visit it here: https://www.facebook.com/AlohaAllOva/ ... or not. I dig it.

I’m the kind of person you can call in the middle of the night to go on a spontaneous adventure with, but I’m also down to veg out, eat pizza and talk about everything under the sun. I freaking love to laugh, but it's amazing when I can share that connection with others. I try to immerse myself in nature as often as possible, so I'm always on the lookout for an outdoor adventure. I love music and I long to meet other musicians. I've played French Horn for band, played piano for most of my life and enjoy singing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Uncertainty is my jam, even if I'm jammed up because of uncertainty. I want to expand my subjectively narrow mind and exchange the idiosyncrasies of our cultures. It's comforting knowing that someone across the world from me also hates Chinese parsley and sneezes when they pluck their eyebrows. If you are visiting the islands and would like me to consider you as a guest in my home, include the word 'pineapples' somewhere in your request ;) I wanna get deep, yo. Let's exchange our joys and our shit and be reminded that the world isn't that big. AND I WANNA JAM. YEAH. LET'S SING AND PLAY MUSIC AND STUFF.

In another tone, I’m an aspiring global citizen and an avid collector of experiences. I wanna experience different parts of the world with an authentic approach and live like the locals do. Going to foreign markets thrill me. I seek to experience the language of love through different cultures.

I want to befriend people who are unconventional, open-minded and free-spirited. I grew up with a lot of rules and expectations bounding me; pretty much a caged bird regarding how to dress, what to think, how to behave blah blah blah. And I want to be completely free of that!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you're ever on O'ahu, I would be more than happy to take you around and share the culture with you. Depending on the situation, I may also be able to accommodate your stay.

If you need a photographer or anything media related, I'll do what I can to help you out. I've done slideshows for people, interned with a local business to make flyers and have written blog posts.

I've had at least ten very different part-time jobs, from waitressing to being a phone operator. Right now, one of my jobs entail driving around the island, folding up things like 22-ft slides, so I'm sure we can get creative and think of something appropriate that I can help you out with.

I like to think I'm good at giving people advice, but that's all subjective. I'll lend you my ears, a shoulder to cry on and/or, as we local Hawaii people like to say, "talk story."
