Overview
About Me
I'm 26 years old and am an English teacher at the French International School. I also teach English to Lao scientists at The Institut Pasteur and to Lao Doctors and Soldiers at the Lao Medical Military Academy. I've been teaching for 5 years now and I love what I do. I learn just as much about the local culture from my students as they learn from me.
I'm engaged and travel with my fiancé (He's French). We're getting married on July 28th, 2018. He works at the French Embassy in Vientiane. We enjoy discussing everything from Literature, to politics,
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I was in Spain, I taught a class comprised of the most amazing students. They were a group of women in their 50's and they were incredibly open and taught me more about Spanish History and culture than any book could teach me. Because of these students and many others, I felt much more connected to Spain and I want to be able to have that experience in every country I visit.
However, it takes time to build up this rapport and I also can't teach English in every country I pass through. I'd love to meet up with locals from every country to replicate this experience and to learn more about the culture than I can on my own.
Interests
I'm super interested in politics (American, Asian, and European) but not aggressively so. I love good food and good wine (also beer, cocktails, etc.) I'm interested in sharing cultures and learning from others.

Music, Movies, and Books
What books do I like? All of them. I have a library card and the people there know me by name. Haha. Right now I'm reading "The Goldfinch". It's incredible. My family teases me because they know when I go shopping for handbags that I also bring a few large books to make sure that the bag can handle them.
Same with music, I'm terrified to put my music library on shuffle at parties because one minute we may be rocking out to The Offspring or chilling to Miles Davis and then the next minute the Harry Potter soundtrack will start to play.
Movies, I like movies. I like anything with Leonardi DiCaprio in it. I'm usually down for whatever in this category.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ironically, out of all the places I've been, the most amazing thing I've ever done was close to home. The Summer of 2011, I was a camp counselor in the foothills of North Carolina where I was able to rock-climb, swim in the Nantahala, and backpack the Appalachian Trail. It was mind blowing beautiful and I never felt healthier than I did then.
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach English here in Paris and did the same in Madrid. I love language exchange. Even if it's not a language I'm actively studying at the time, I still love to learn the basics, the slang, and of course, how to properly curse.
I also love to eat and love to cook. I was born in Louisiana and lived in Houston, Texas as a teenager. I love to cook Cajun food and Mexican food. At the moment, I'm learning French cuisine.
