About Me

I'm an English teacher passionate about languages, traveling and meeting new people from around the world. I studied English and French in college and spent a year studying abroad in Southampton, UK. Then I went to Rennes, France to teach Spanish in a high school. I came back to Spain and started teaching English in high schools and I spent the past two years teaching esl in a small town in Illinois. I've always loved international atmospheres and learning about other countries and their culture, traditions, ways of life... I love exploring the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to it and although I can't host anyone, I think it can be a great opportunity to meet people from other places, learn from them and share with them what you can, it's always so enriching!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music, especially pop, hip hop, jazz, blues and even country music (got into it after spending two years in the Midwest!). Some of my fave bands/musicians are The Beatles (best music band ever!), Elvis Presley, Johnnie Cash, the Beach Boys, Lauryn Hill, Foster the people, Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club and many many others. Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and Louis Armstrong are my favorite jazz singers, they're the best!

I love going to the cinema and watching movies in general. One of my all-time favorite movies is Forrest Gump, I just love it! Others include: Amélie, Groundhog Day, old movies like Gone with the Wind and many others.

I love literature and books and I read a lot in college, but these days I don't read that much (don't have as much time as I'd like). Some of my favorite authors are: Shakespeare (of course!), James Joyce and many North American authors such as Walt Whitman (Leaves of Grass), Hemingway, Faulkner, Paul Auster and many more. I also like reading books in French and an author I like is Le Clézio.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed up Angel's Landing, a super steep and dangerous mountain in Zion National Park, Utah. I posed riding a horse John Wayne style at Monument Valley in the Navajo country (such a magic, gorgeous place!). I went to a Beach Boys gig (celebrating their 50th anniversary) in Champaign, IL, so cool! I saw B.B. King, the king of Blues, playing live a year before he passed away in Rockford, IL. I met and got a autograph from the actress who played Bubba's mom in the movie "Forrest Gump" at a gospel music gig (she was part of the gospel choir). As you can see I got to do a lot of amazing things while in the US, it's such a mind blowing country!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love languages, especially English, and I'm lucky to do that for a living. I love speaking in English but also in another super beautiful language, French, and I started learning Italian and would love to continue. I'd love to learn Portuguese too one day.

I love speaking with people of all walks of life and from different parts of the world and learning from them. My favorite part of traveling is, apart from visiting gorgeous places, immersing in the culture and meeting locals so you can truly experience life in other parts of the world. I love road tripping (did several across the US and loved them) and living adventures while touring the world, it's so fun and fulfilling!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share conversations on anything (I like talking in general, especially about languages, travels, literature, music....), walks to discover different places in the cities I know (I love walking and wandering places) and fun times over some good food (I'm not good at cooking but love trying different kinds of food), drinks or even going dancing or singing (I particularly like dancing). I'm easy-going, friendly and always open to trying new things.
