About Me

Heyyo! I'm Almohannad, but everybody calls me Almo. I'm from Dubai but have been all over the world and love travelling. It's exciting meeting new people and getting to know new cultures first hand. I've never really been able to pick a favourite, as each city/country has its own unique characteristics that just makes them incomparable to the next one. Nonetheless it is always the people that have made my journeys exciting and rarely ever the place itself. I personally don't like doing the typical touristy shenanigans and rather prefer seeing a place for how the residents see it. In my opinion, I don't think you've visited a country until you experience it like the people who live there do. I have a massive interest for the unfamiliar and will often put myself in situations where I need to discover more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet up with locals in various countries, and I'm more than happy to show fellow couchsurfers around when they come Dubai.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Too many to pick from. LCD Soundsystem favourite band, James Murphy favourite musical identity, Mikael Seifu favourite DJ, Nils Frahm - All Melody favourite vinyl record, Africa Analog and Habibi Funk favourite record labels
Movies: Fight Club, Tron: Legacy, Mr. Bean's Holiday, Psycho
Series: Master of None, Wilfred
Books: Shantaram, A Clockwork Orange, and generally any dystopian novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly the most amazing experience I've had was swimming in the Mediterranean sea in Tunisia. I'd wake up everyday and just dive into that ocean and try stay under water for as long as possible, go as deep as possible, be with the fishes. The water was just amazingly clean and I didn't mind opening my eyes (The sea in Dubai is much saltier so I could handle it). I don't think I'll ever forget those swims, where I was alone and diving deep to the ocean floor. The pearl diver in me kicked in!

Teach, Learn, Share

Would love to teach a few Arabic phrases, get involved in deep philosophical conversations, or even exchange any music that may be of interest. Or even lets just discuss books and movies; dystopias vs utopias. I love exchanging intellectual conversation that get you thinking more and more.

If you have any useful skills of the wild I would love to pick them up. I have a few fun small activities I can teach, like juggling or playing Kendama (japanese ball in cup game)

If you have a ukulele, I could definitely teach you a few chords/songs. I'll be carrying mine!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Great conversation, recipes for some arabic cuisine, a bit of music here and there.
Let's share our skills, talents and knowledge.

Lets talk about our experiences, my mom always told me, "treat everything as a learning experience; engage with people as if they have a lesson to teach you"
