About Me

You can find more about me in @almova90 (Twitter and Instagram).

CURRENT MISSION

Learning (mostly technical contents from a variety of scientific and humanistic fields), writing, reflecting, being conscious and coherent, tending to completeness in some sense.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently writing a book trying to describe this, haha. Nice, friendly, responsible, funny (it should be warned that my writing sometimes suggests a seriousness that definitely is not what you would perceive when talking to me!), adaptive, comprehensive, easy-going, open-minded, expressive, flexible, very rational and very emotional (simultaneously and without - or at least, not relevant - contradictions because of that)...

With a lot of "mental structure" and quite unusual views and attitudes concerning some aspects of life. I never (really, never) get angry, worry, nervous or bored, I have quite a big (original) "philosophical" (very analytic, precise and well established) background to justify all of my interests and tendencies, I feel great talking about my deepest thoughts and feelings with everybody (an old friend or a person I know for 5 minutes), I make new people feel confortable and as if we known each other since long time ago...

In general I'm quite (obviously I could be more) unusual in the inside but that's not obvious at all when you talk to me (I may seem just a nice and funny guy).

PHILOSOPHY

I don't believe myself to be good enough summarizing to be able to answer this, but at least I can say that my "personal philosophy" is not something that can be described with a brief sentence or concept (at least not with a well-known one), since it is not something like certain attitude towards life or a couple of main ideas that underlie my behavior and decisions, but rather a highly abstract, analytical and extense amount of thoughts, very much in the sense of the contents of any regular philosophical essay (that is, including issues regarding metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of language, etc., being all of them equally relevant in building an integrated scheme). It would be, however, a pleasure to talk about it more extensively in person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Currently I'm only interested in surfing (I cannot host people now, otherwise I probably would do it). Up to now, my only and very nice experience here was being hosted in London for a week.

Interests

I like learning, reading, writing, thinking, talking, going out with friends and meeting new people, watching movies and series, listening to music, cooking, art (enjoying it and - without special achievements - creating it), etc.

Probably above all (but certainly not exclusively), however, I'm interested in knowing and understanding what exists (world/universe/reality) from an integrated/holistic/complete approach and with special focus in the universal/necessary/fundamental aspects, which leads me to being interested in a diversity of academic disciplines (mathematics, physics, biology, computer science, psychology and neuroscience, philosophy, anthropology, history, biomedical engineering, argumentation theory...) although it should be stressed that that doesn't mean that I know a lot of things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch quite a lot of movies (I like all genres a lot - although it depends on the movie - except horror or comedy movies, which I like but usually not as much as others). I like specially movies that have an intense emotional charge with feelings that are very relevant in the lives of the characters. In fact, when I watch a movie I like to get into it so much that I'm almost living it and consequently I get moved very intensely.

I like every kinds of music, although I usually (but not always) listen to classical, pop, rock and electronic (and many subgenres of all of them), and movie soundtracks.

With respect to books, I prefer essays and academic books because of the learning component (besides of the instantaneous pleasure of reading), although I like as well narrative and lyric works (specially poetry). I don't, however, happen to read a lot (and that is something I want to change at some point), at least when it comes to (whole) books, although it is true that I read much ("relevant") text on the Internet on a daily basis.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 19 I went through a rather radical change (with well identified causes) concerning my thoughts, my interests and my very personality, which I refer to as "intellectual epiphany", therafter strongly leading my life towards knowledge (although it hasn't been always a full-time dedication, but certainly it has always been a significant one).

Teach, Learn, Share

I like teaching things I know (maybe I could remark among them "how to think critically" or some subtle aspects of a variety of questions that people usually don't see, although I have also some more particular knowledge, specially - but not exclusively - related to science and physics in particular). I love learning everything in general, specially (but not exclusively) if it is related to some academic field. I like as well sharing, as I've said, my thoughts and feelings, and my time with other people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Virtually endless conversations, specially if they are related with teaching, learning or sharing in the aforementioned sense. I think I have some insights about several issues that because of their rationality and subtelty may prove interesting to others, and many times I happened to shed some light concerning people's doubts, specially regarding to more "philosophical" topics, so to speak.

I am, however, equally fine with being just doing my stuff on my own, that meaning that obviously we can talk (or whatever) as time as you want but whenever you prefer having time for yourself (even if it was the whole time) that would be totally okay for me.

I will also willingly provide any reasonable help that may be needed from me, of course.
