About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn how to say 'cockroach' in as many different languages as possible. So far cockroach in Russian sounds the best!

ABOUT ME

I'm very adventurous throughout all aspects of life. I love to challenge myself and push the bar when it comes to what I expect I can and cannot do. One example of this is that I've booked myself in to learn how to dive later this month... doesn't sound very perplexing, however, I have an excruciating and deathly fear of water and sharks. But to be honest, the idea of diving is just so seductive, the thought of being able to explore the world under water through reefs and shipwrecks is just too tempting to allow my fears and insecurities to get the better of me. It is very scary and very exciting, mixed emotions, but I guess that's part of growing and learning who you are and who you want to be. I love to read, I love to write and fancy myself a bit of a storyteller. I believe a sentence with great imagination can be more potent, more powerful and more beautiful than the most prized symphony. I study humans in a variety of different ways... no i'm not a voyeur lol, i study anthropology and psychology so i have an excuse to watch! hahaha.
I think I am more attracted to living the life extraordinary. I'm not materialistic at all and would most likely give you the shirt off my back in times of need, even if you are not my friend. I love animals and feel terribly after killing a spider... but eh spiders... I still feel bad. I've recently become really obsessed with watching documentaries about the Roman Empire, I have no idea what fever brought this on but I simply can't get enough of it in my spare time. I'm very close to my family and loyal to my friends. Everything else is pretty much the same as everybody else, love going to the movies, coffee with friends, wine and good food.

PHILOSOPHY

"Knowing the names of the characters really does not tell you anything about them. When famous scientist Richard Feynman was a boy, his father pointed to a bird. According to Feynman, his father said, “See that bird? It’s a Spencer’s Warbler. (I knew that he didn’t know the real name.) Well, in Italian, it’s a Chutto Lapittida. In Portuguese, it’s a Bod de Peida. In Chinese, it’s a Chung-longltah, and in Japanese, it’s a Katano Tekeda. You can know the name of that bird in all the languages of the world, but when you’re finished, you’ll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird. You’ll only know about humans in different places, and what they call the bird. So let’s look at the bird and see what it is doing – that is what counts.” Feynman concluded, “I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something.”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Fabulously!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I was traveling I met Maxi after explaining to him that I was on a toaster racing mission to Argentina! Luckily Maxi has an awesome sense of humor and agreed to host me. Having said that, after my dearest mother found out i was going to couchsurf for the first time, she freaked and sent me a belated Christmas present by booking me into a small hotel. Thanks mum ;/
Undeterred, Maxi took me out on the most memorable night. I'm now looking forward to Maxi visiting Australia so I can try and beat his most amazing adventure he took me on in Buenos Aires!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to say cockroach in English, German, Dutch, Danish, Russian and Spanish... not in that order! ;)

But probably most useful for the avid traveller of the world, I can teach you how to identify flint stone-tool artefacts. I came across many during my travels in South America and once you know how, it is pretty easy to identify one. Also makes for a great little historical souvenir! Although be warned, generally, no matter how seemingly insignificant, artefacts are not allowed to be removed... Ha try telling that to the British! hahahaha... Kidding!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bolivia, Denmark, France, Hungary, India, Nepal, Netherlands

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, Australia, Peru, United Kingdom
