I'm quick to laugh and learn, but slow to anger. I scatter good jokes and bad puns everywhere I go - I can't help myself! I'll talk to you for hours on end about everything and nothing, but I need some quiet time to myself too. I seek the inner beauty in places and people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've crashed on plenty of couches, and occasionally offered up my own, but not yet through CouchSurfing. Hoping to change that soon!

Interests

I love to learn - how can you live if you're not learning? If you're really good at something there's a good chance I'll try to learn it from you. Even if it's crazy! I'll try most anything at least once. I'll probably suck the first few times, and I'm fine with that. You could say my ego comes pre-popped.

I love meeting awesome people! There's nothing that makes my day more than getting to know somebody amazing for the first time. I don't ask that you share any of my interests - just be genuine.

I love music of all genres and cultures. When it moves me, I dance without shame. At various points in my life I've been consumed by photography, martial arts, surfing, and many many other things. Someday I'll discover the underlying truths about how the brain works, and how to emulate it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was the summer of 2006 and I was all set to climb Tungurahua, a volcano in Ecuador. My group was checking over our packs the night before, when we heard a deep, low throbbing sound. It was like a subwoofer had been placed right against the door. We went outside, only to be surrounded by the sound - it felt like the air was alive. In the distance, I could barely make out a deep red color shooting out into the air. The next morning, we saw that half the volcano was covered in ash! Simply surreal. The hike was called off, of course.

More recently I spent nearly half a year in Florianópolis - a city located on a long, narrow island just off the Brazilian coast. I learned Portuguese, met a lot of fascinating people, and visited most of the island's 42 beaches. There were too many amazing moments scattered across those months to pick just one.
