ABOUT ME

We're a family of four (myself, my husband Wayne, Ruthanne [11] and Charlie [8]). We're always happy to have guests stay over and have have been able to accommodate some last-minute requests.

In the past couple of years I've become more and more involved in local economies and the unconsume movement. This is partially due to economic circumstances but also because I want to reduce waste as much as reasonably possible. I'm interested in gardening and keep chickens (eggs are available for sale, depending on the time of year). We produce some of our own meat for consumption right here on our city lot. There are cats in this household so be aware; we are not allergy-friendly. However, we are willing to share our table if you can help cook or clean up. We are avid bicyclists here and can help you get around town by bike.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, we're hosting whenever we can. We're hoping to do some traveling of our own once our economic situation improves a little. It's vicarious traveling only at the moment!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have hosted numerous CouchSurfers here and always had a positive experience. My husband will talk your ear off if you let him, and the kids will want to show off for you!

We've only been able to surf at other people's houses a couple of times, but it was a rewarding experience.

Interessen

During the school year, primarily I just get to teach and don't have any time for much else. However, I like to work in my garden and do small sewing projects. I also manage a Little Free Library that is in front of my house.

Recently I've started learning Samba drumming using a big drum called a Serdo. I love it!

Being in the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake was pretty awe-inspiring. We got to observe a swimming pool empty itself with a pool-tsunami.
