About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To hug as many goats as possible. (In Varanasi, it's easier than you think)
ABOUT ME
I really like train travel, and I travel by train as much as I can. My favorite bunk is the top side berth, but I'll gladly take anything.
I have a really trendy pair of converse that don't fit my personality at all. But they are from Seoul and therefore way, way awesome.
I've fallen in love with the Dostana soundtrack.
My blog is www.ahcarney.blogspot.com, if you want to get to know me a little better. I update fairly often, and in the top upper corner there is a link to my flickr page (if you click the slideshow of images).
I'm very laid back and I don't really like making plans. I usually travel with someone else who carries a guide book. I'm much better at following someone else's plans with a smile on my face than actually making those plans myself.
PHILOSOPHY
I suppose I don't really have one. One day at a time, I guess? At least, that's how I feel in India. Oh, and always have a positive attitude. It never helps to start something new with a bad attitude.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf almost whenever I travel, but unfortunately haven't been able to host much. My apartment in Varanasi wasn't very foreigner-friendly.
I have had passports mailed to me, I have met groups of people who bonded over a shared meal at McDonalds, and I have been taken to swankiest club I have ever been to (in any country) via CS. I plan on never leaving.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've met a few people and stayed with several through couch surfing. It's all been really good!
I love going to new places and staying with people. I will avoid hotels at all costs.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read so many books in India...I had so much free time. My favorite was a book by Junot Diaz, The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I also read Jane Eyre for the first time (bizarre timing, I know).
I will once again mention the fact that I have fallen in love with the Dostana Soundtrack.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once spent an afternoon with my dad digging up my dead dog and identifying all the bones. I realize now that that was not normal.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach someone the basics of the Urdu script! With minimal errors, of course. I can at least teach you the alphabet and how to connect some letters. Feel free to ask me; I'd love to teach anyone!
Countries I’ve Visited
India, Italy
Countries I’ve Lived In
