About Me
An avid traveler that is working on his tight budget and his addict to travel simultaneously. Whenever I travel, I aim to capture the best views that the places of interest can offer me, with both my eyes and my camera.
I am currently working in Singapore as an Oil Spill Responder, while doing part-time private tutoring for Math, Sciences and Geography and is a semi-professional photographer! I used to major in Earth Sciences back in university, and have some background in Civil Engineering.
Find me on instagram: @elfintanned (very active)!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to learn more about the culture and lifestyle of other people. I love to discuss about life, beliefs and personal interests/hobbies with people of different background or upbringing from mine.
The world is my oyster and I am keen to help out a fellow couchsurfer on the road! Just like how I was picked up by warm hosts along the way, I would like to share my knowledge of my country and give you all a little help.
Unfortunately in Singapore, we stay with our family and it is difficult for us to host people usually. But we can hang out and you’ll get to explore the hidden gems of the country, especially finding good food with me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Does eating fried Tarantula count?
If not, maybe driving 2000km up North into the Arctic Circle during the dead winter to see Auroras?
Okay one last try: Traveling for 2 months “blind” without much planning (and letting people I’ve met on the road shaped my destinations), and getting 11/12 couches on a same-day request basis.
Teach, Learn, Share
Very interested in learning how to cook different dishes, as well as taking up new sports (eg. surfing, skiing).
Keen to learn some languages, preferably not just profanities!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My experiences in Southeast Asian countries, UK/North and South America trips, and how I managed to solo travelled around Eastern Europe with last minute couchsurfing requests.
More exciting ones including how I survived Bosnia where I was misunderstood as a migrant and how I got a severe allergic reaction (AND ALMOST DIED) after drinking horse milk in a remote village in Kyrgyzstan.
I may not be well-versed in particular skills, but I definitely have some stories to share as well!
I have recently picked up some cooking while I lived in Canada for a few months. Can't say I'm an awesome cook but I can definitely whip up some good Asian dishes now!
