Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first couchsurfing experience was in Hannover Germany, where I was working as a summer intern. When I first got there, I was staying in hostels every night because I had not found an apartment yet. My starter money was running out and after work I would have to immediately go and spend hours searching for apartments, with no luck. This was quite a stressful time for me, and it was then that I started getting replies back from requests I had sent via couchsurfing. I met so many hosts that were willing to extend a helping hand to someone who was in need, and I am very thankful to all of them. Being able to stay with friendly locals who knew the city well was not only very educational, but did a great deal to ease my mind. I learned a lot from them, and ended up having a great time when I otherwise would have been stressed. After a month, I had found an apartment. I had such a good time meeting new people through couchsurfing though that I continued to do it for my travels outside of Hannover!

There's a wealth of information in the world that I will not have access to unless I actively try to explore outside the limited pool of ideas from my everyday life.
