About Me

I grew up in Malaysia, went to Singapore at the age of 13, and am now pursuing undergraduate studies in New York. I affix labels to myself from time to time but they're always replaced when new experiences come knocking, and sometimes the change can be rather jarring

Love insightful conversations but are nonetheless down to party the night away once in a while.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet and make new friends, locals and travellers alike! Traveling to me is beyond just being a cultural spectator — it should be more than just arriving at a new place, taking photos, posting on social media, buying local souvenirs and going home. It should be a very localized experience, interacting with those who have lived and loved a place.

Interests

I picked up road cycling and photography since the age of 15, and I've been hooked since then!

I'm in beginning to pick up trekking/hiking, running and even singing. I consider myself open-minded and adventurous, and hence am open to new experiences, so tell me about your unique hobby and I might just pick it up when I'm home!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to play curated playlists on Spotify, and genres range from acoustic, country to soul/R&B. John Mayer and his chill vibes definitely get me every time. Love mandarin pop as well!

For reading, I generally read non-fiction books and they can go from international relations, military affairs to philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cave exploration in Semuc Champey, Guatemala! Holding a candle in one hand, GoPro in the other, and wading a neck-deep water in a fresh water cave is definitely something to be remembered for a very, very long time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been to quite a number of hidden spots in Singapore with local groups/alone in the past couple of months! Some require quite extensive hiking/trekking in the local rainforest so perhaps I could share some tips and guidelines into finding those places.

I really want to learn cooking though, especially foreign dishes when I am overseas :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

The little experiences I have living in culturally diverse places such as Singapore, Malaysia, a little of China and the U.S.
