About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get more women into CS!
I would also like to educate people on the value of traveling and CS. Traveling and CS does NOT look like the Hollywood movies "Hostel" and "Taken"... This world is a fantastic place, and it is full of amazing people! You learn nothing if you never leave your comfort zone.
"It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end." - Ernest Hemingway
ABOUT ME
I am a free-spirit. I love adventure, whether it be in my own backyard or a foreign country. I am a lifelong learner, so I enjoy discussing culture, science, life, etc. It is fun to tell people about my own experiences, but I find that there is more value in listening to others (especially CS folks and fellow travelers!).
I have a tendency to go to bed early and wake up early, so I make a really lame party animal... I am an old soul.
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on those accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain
"Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you come from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." - Terry Pratchett
PHILOSOPHY
Although I am only one person, I am committed to making the world a better place.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am not a big movie watcher. I would rather be outside.
I listen to everything and anything. Some of my favorite musicians come out of MN, including Atmosphere and Cloud Cult. I am also an avid listener of NPR, BBC and TED talks.
My favorite books are feel good books, medical mystery, war novels and historic fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived with a family in Kigali, Rwanda for a couple months. The lifestyle was completely different from my own, but I loved every minute of it! I even enjoyed showering with a cold bucket of water every morning when it was nearly 50F outside. I learned a lot about what is truly important in life. I am so glad that they welcomed me into their family with open arms.
Teach, Learn, Share
I own two longboards, but I can hardly use them. Help me learn?
I enjoy learning about the world around me and how to reduce my carbon footprint, especially since I travel so much...
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy cooking. :)
And since I am a pharmacist, I would love to answer any and all of your questions about health and medicine.
