Overview
About Me
"I'd rather live a life of oh-wells than what-ifs." I want to interact, experience, and try new things as much as possible because I believe it is crucial to being a responsible and aware human being (and it's also crazy fun).
When I was 17, I spent the summer in Spain and discovered backpacking, coming home determined to backpack after I finished school. That started some solo travel, and I did a trip around SE Asia and Europe before starting university. Since then I've traveled as much as possible, often alone, and have loved every bit of it.
I've just decided on psychology as my major, though right now I am spending the winter studying art history, literature, and history in Paris. I'm only studying during the winter because I am on a sailing team that competes heavily in the fall and spring, so staying active and fit for the spring season is important to me!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think Couchsurfing offers the ability to interact with locals and have a wonderful experience! I want to interact with people as much as possible and learn about other cultures, so what better way than by Couchsurfing?
Interests
In general, I love to explore, try new things, be active, and appreciate nature. This encompasses my love to dance, laugh, and do yoga. Back home, I'm on a sailing team that takes up 20-40 hours of my time per week, and in the winters I love skiing/snowboarding, while in the summer, I enjoy surfing and paddleboarding (though I can't say I'm great at any of those actvities!)
I'm not as good as I should be, but I love to play piano, and Chopin, Debussy, and Beethoven are my favorites.
I love trying new things and new foods, and I'll try just about anything once! Always up for an adventure. I also love to get out and connect with nature. I'm not religious, but for me, it's something really powerful.

Music, Movies, and Books
On the night train to Chiang Mai I recently devoured the Alchemist and even though are some parts I don't love, I'm obsessed.
The Girls, the Good Girl, and the Orphan Master's Son were great reads, and I love Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie's books--they are truly fantastic (Americana and Purple HIbiscus)!
TV:
GOT, Westworld, Gran Hotel, Stranger Things
Love all the superhero movies like Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Avengers, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lots of little things add up... monkey beach in Thailand, exploring the canyon in Pai, jumping off waterfall in Colombia, kayaking in Halong Bay, bbq in the middle of nowhere in Croatia, enjoying the nightlife in Singapore, nighttime swims in San Seb, and doing yoga on top of Mt. Whistler during a yoga festival... these have all been some things I've loved. Impossible to choose one, but really, it's the people I've met and the conversations I've shared that have meant the most
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to cook and bake! I could definitely help a beginner with Spanish or French. Maybe a little bit of piano? I've played for 13 years though I've never tried to teach it.
I can for sure teach some yoga as well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to cook a meal (but you have to tell me what you like)! I still have lots of traveling to do, but I can exchange some of my stories and experiences, and I would love to hear yours.
I'm always happy to help and pull my own weight when I'm a guest.
