About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Be introduced into the art of backpacking!
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised on Long Island, New York to a Colombian father and an American mother. I was lucky to have this kind of diversity around me, which I believe fueled my passion for discovering how people around the world live.
I'm a nursing student, my courses typically divided into theory and clinical practice in the hospital. I'm rather quiet sometimes, but very thoughtful, and easily pleased. I have been told that I am a very maternal person, and each day I am noticing it more and more myself! I care deeply for people, children, animals, living things in general. They amaze me all the time.
PHILOSOPHY
Simply be kind to all people, live and love around the world. Try to find something wonderful in each day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed, and I can't wait until the day that I can finally host!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed quite a few couches on a backpacking trip through Europe in May-June 2013, and met some really incredible people! It was probably the most important experience I've had in my life thus far, in terms of growing as a person and realizing what I want from life. As a novice to backpacking, the trip has inspired me to seek more adventures in places far and near, and to be more passionate.
Interests
Cooking, traveling, films and music of all kinds, history, reading, hiking, geography, and anything of the artistic sort! I hope that when I finish my nursing studies, I will have the time to do more creative activities that I love, but for now I am cheering on the people in my life who do. I like to write, even though often haphazardly, and crochet colorful blankets.
I love to dance, laugh, be silly, and make a fool out of myself sometimes, which is a pretty positive indicator of my level of trust and comfort in a given environment.
I also really enjoy exploring outside, observing the weather and nature in full force!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Pretty much everything, but some favorites are Fleet Foxes, Phoenix, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, The Go! Team...
Movies: Everything is Illuminated, the Science of Sleep, Amelie, Babel, and Reprise. This list could also get very long.
Books: all and any! I love to read, really! Recent favorites have been "Let the Great World Spin" by Colum McCann, and "Out Stealing Horses" by Per Petterson, though now most of my time is spent reading nursing textbooks.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw Sigur Ros perform in Prospect Park, Brooklyn July 2012. It was such a beautiful show, I was nearly tearing up.
The William Kentridge exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Just awesome.
While snorkeling near the shore of a modest beach in Kona, Hawaii, an enormous sea turtle appeared next to me. I stared at it for some time, both frightened and fascinated by the size of it, it stared at me back, until it eventually headed back into the ocean blue once again. Cool when I was thirteen years old, and cool even now.
Teach, Learn, Share
In any place I travel I would love to learn some of the language, and in exchange can teach the English language. Definitely hoping to share lots of laughs, recipes, music, movie, and book recommendations, and stories.
