ABOUT ME

I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in the Deep South and graduated Louisiana State University with a degree in political communication and business.

The original plan was to move to D.C. after college, but then I heard about an internship in Istanbul...and well, I fell in love and have been living here and working as a journalist since. I focus mostly on human rights (specifically women's rights) issues.

I am taking the summer off to travel, explore, meet new people and see new places.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short. We only live once. The only things that really matter, therefore, are love, helping others and happiness.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am pretty new to CouchSurfing but have many friends who swear by it as the best way to not only travel but really get a taste for and learn about new cultures, people and places. I am fascinated by the concept and philosophy and ready to put it to the test!

I'll be traveling for a while, so I sadly won't be able to host yet.

Anything that gets my heart a'pumping and makes me feel alive -- rock climbing, running, hiking, swing and salsa dancing. I am a lover of reading, writing and the arts. Good government, social justice, gender, human rights and innovation are my passions. I find cooking cathartic and artistic...and, well, I just love food.
