About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting into the Master's program of linguistics in Dresden. Learn a language other than English well enough to speak.

ABOUT ME

I live in the lovely town of Dresden in East Germany, going to start a M.A. of Lingusitics, have moved here very recently and am looking for a job as waiter, as I had one in Bonn, the just as lovely town where I finished my B.A. (Asian Studies, also Celtic Studies and a bit of mathematics)

I like to read, play all kind of board and grass games, or write stories or something, but have to admit to being too lazy or distracted mostof the time, to give a good story an earnest try. I am always at leisure for a leisurely talk, curious about most things I know or don't know (usually more interesting), admire nature and old buildings (or old stuff in general), love to take a walk and I always have space left in my stomach for delicious food (probably the right place to mention I am vegetarian).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not too much, 2013 I had an awesome semester in Sofia, where I hitch-hiked for the first time with friends I made there, and travelled around a lot, with my tent, in youth hostels and with Couchsurfing. At that time, mostly, I couchsurfed three times with friends, twice alone and I stayed in the Couchsurfing Camp in Guca.

Interests

When travelling I am mostly interested in all the cultural aspects, architecture and museums, of course the atmosphere, the history and of course the living culture: Music, Theatre; not so much into partying.
Moreover of interest: every kind of nature - especially lakes, mountains or ocean(s). Reading, pretty much everything, whose author is deceased, some others and Donald Duck-comics, yes, I still adore them. Traditional music and dances of all cultures.
And I still have an interest in Mathmatics and Physics, although I didn't study it in the end.

Music, Movies, and Books

Everything written by Dostoyevski. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Gulliver's travels. Platon's Dialogues. Moby Dick. Martin Eden. Satanic Verses. Nana. Animal Farm. 1984. Everything written by Goethe. Everything written by Heine. Everything written by one of the Bronte-Sisters. Everything written by Shakespeare, although there's a lot left to read. Frankenstein. Siddartha, Under the Wheel. Mrs. Dalloway. Catcher in the Rye. Bonjour Tristesse. And Harry Potter of course, I have read every of the seven volumes at least three times...

Concerning films, everything of Stanley Kubrick or Hayao Miyazaki. I loved Delicatessen and City of Lost Children. The early Disney-films are fantastic, especially Dumbo. The great Dictator. And all silent films, we have a festival for those each year in my home town.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiking around Western Balkans with friends.

Walking in the Bretagne for 10 days and sleeping outside without tent or sleeping bag. And the best memory of that trip is being invited by a stranger into his home from the street and him cooking for me and a night of talking with the worst french-english mix ever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have much to teach. Maybe German Lullabies? But expect no more than the first strophe...
I do Tai Chi, we could do the form together, as morning exercise.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Memories. (sounds a bit kitschy, hm?)
Love for singing, although I lack talent.
My girlfriend draws amazingly. (When we're together, it accounts for me, doesn't it?)
Also she is a great baker. Me, I do like to cook, but usually I throw into a pot whatever is at hand, and usually it tastes quite well, but I am afraid it does not make me a good cook.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cuba, Estonia, France, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Montenegro, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In

Bulgaria, Germany
