About Me
Hey! I'm Alyssa, pronounced like Alicia (I know- messed up, right?) To make things easier you can just call me Leash.
I think I’m pretty chill and more than occasionally just kinda silly...I don’t take things too seriously, and more often than not just go with the flow! I love a great conversation (often with beers) and I laugh at many things! I love random adventures and am usually down to go anywhere at the drop of a hat! Even if it takes like 5 hours to get there!
I love to make new friends wherever I go, and I’d like to think I’m pretty good at staying in contact with the friends I’m close to, both new and old- so let’s be friends!!
I’m fluent in English and can speak a little bit of Japanese! I’m looking forward to getting to know you and exchanging languages!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m just interested in meeting new people and love a good conversation! I hope that you can teach me a bit about your culture, and I can teach you about mine!
I haven't yet had the chance to host- but I’ve traveled a ton and had the opportunity to stay with some really wonderful people along the way, and one day I’d like to return the favour!!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Pretty much all types of music, depending on my mood. But I most love anything I can dance to!
Movies: A kid at heart, I’m still in love with the 90’s classics. The Sandlot and Jurassic Park are a few faves there! I love any sort of adventure movie, especially if it’s a feel good one! The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is pretty great, also..that soundtrack tho!! A few other favourites: Lost in Translation, The Goonies, Chef, LOTR, Midnight in Paris.
Books: Anything by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Something sarcastic and witty such as something by David Sedaris. Harry Potter (of course). Also, anything that inspires me to travel and feel like a badass!
Oh...and beer. I LOVE beer!!! (This is neither music nor book nor movie...BUT...can be enjoyed with all so is a must for the list!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a famous actor (Luke Wilson) at a restaurant once and wrote him a note on a napkin. The server gave him the note and he came over and took a picture with me! It was amazing. I was so nervous about his reaction I could barely even function!!
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmmm, I teach English as my job...so I can definitely do a bit of that! I can also teach you about Canada! I’m not the greatest chef but I’m always down to try. But mainly I can share a great conversation, and probably some beers, and maybe also some karaoke and a dance party!?
