Hello! My name is Alyssa, and will be moving over to Amsterdam with my friend Benjamin. We have grown up in Brisbane, Australia and while have always maintained a keen interest in travel; I have yet to relocate for an extended period of time. We are both very excited to be packing up our lives, and are ready to embrace big change and experience the unknown. We have both organised our working visas and are looking forward to spending the next year exploring new landscapes, people, art, music and cultures.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Amsterdam a number of years ago and have since always felt this was a place I could live. There was something very unique about the relaxed and creative atmosphere that I have not bee able to look past.

This is the first time I will be moving to another city, and therefore felt Couch Surfing would be the perfect opportunity to meet and integrate with people already living in Amsterdam. There is really nothing better then being able to sit down with an individual who has grown up or lived in a particular place, and be able to listen to their experiences and love for where they feel most at home. Having insight to this sense of belonging and passion is truly invaluable!

Música, películas y libros

It is hard to know where to start with music, as I do listen to such a broad range of bands and genres. While I do not fluently play an instrument, music truly is my happy place, and would be lost without it. To name a few of my favourites right now would have to be, Boogie Belgique, Pyschedelic Porn Crumpets, Tame Impala, Skin Shape, The Replacements, The Smiths, Boards of Canada, Four Tet, Chaos in the CBD, Wand, Kikigaku Moyo, Babe Rainbow, Kyanos, Fleetwood Mac, The Psychedelic Furs, Parcels, Pavement.

In terms of reading I love to delve into human psychology and understanding life's big questions. I am currently reading the Mind of God, and BPD Demystified. I have only begun to get back into this in the last 12 months, so any suggestions would be welcomed :)

First thing that comes to mind is visiting Devil's Pool in Zambia over Victoria Falls. Sitting on the edge of a flowing water fall is truly exhilarating!

I do have a flow want which I thoroughly enjoy playing with in my spare time. If you do not know what this is, I would be more then happy to demonstrate and share in the fun.

I am a very easy going person and can completely respect I will be living within someone else's home. I will endeavour to help around the house where I can and more then happy to contribute where necessary. I would love to get to know my host, share a meal, or even a cheeky glass of wine!
