About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see the world and learn a few new things while I'm at it.
ABOUT ME
Basically, I want to see the world, meet its people, and learn what I can from them. As of now, I've settled down in Washington, DC to (hopefully) launch a career in international development. I love living, learning, dancing, meeting new people, speaking new languages, singing (badly,) running, and wearing dresses. I also eat a lot of ice cream.
PHILOSOPHY
Remember the past, live for the present, and look to the future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Sadly, I've never hosted anyone, but my experience as a traveler has been nothing but wonderful! Staying with locals (or at least with non-natives who have made foreign cities their homes) can open up an entire new set of doors to friendships, off-the-beaten-track experiences, and learning. Seeing a new place can be great on its own, but it's not really traveling until you've experienced the culture first-hand and learned what you could from its people. And I like to think the stories I have to share can at least provide some entertainment, too.
Unfortunately, due to a small apartment packed with too many roommates, I am unable to host people. However, in August, my boyfriend and I are planning to move and rent a place closer to the center, and we'd love to start having people as soon as we settle in!

Music, Movies, and Books
There are too many to name, so I'm definitely missing some! The Brothers Karamazov is my all-time favorite book--it's the reason I started learning Russian! Les Miserables, A Clockwork Orange, Bel Canto, Anna Karenina, The Secret History, The Bell Jar, Master and Margarita, Wild, Devil in the White City, Slaughterhouse-5, Middlesex, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Exorcist. There are really so many more, I'm just not remembering them.
Pan's Labyrinth, It's a Wonderful Life, Finding Neverland, Birdman, Amelie, The Avengers (my guilty pleasure,) Her, The Royal Tenenbaums, 500 Days of Summer, Fargo. Once again, there's a lot I'm forgetting.
I'm not even going to start with music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few winters ago I went to Lapland, Finland and saw the Northern Lights- one of the best experiences of my life!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love languages- teaching them and learning them is one of my passions!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I consider myself a pretty good story-teller! I think there's something to be said for being able to provide a perspective that others may not have been exposed to before-- and I love hearing other perspectives, as well!
