About Me

I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, USA and spent my younger years enjoying all the delights of southern culture: biscuits and gravy, a mean fiddle riff, creek swimming, lake jumping, and of course a fondness for a nice pair of boots. Growing up in Nashville exposed me to so many different types of people, music, art, and culture. It's a very open culture with an emphasis on sharing- and this is something I've managed to carry with me no matter where I happen to be.

From there- I ventured (unfortunately) further into the south to Samford University where I pursued my degree in Philosophy and French. Throughout college, I did an assortment of jobs including: insurance, waiting tables, barista-ing, and nanny/aupairing. Through these experiences, I met many different kinds of people and continued to expand my world.

After university, I rolled the dice and packed up and moved to France by myself to work in a high school in Les Andelys, Upper Normandy, France. It was a risk- but I find myself living through the most rewarding year of my life to date.

My affinity for nihilistic memes and jokes aside- most would tend to describe me as funny, open minded, free spirited, and kind hearted. I love meaningful conversations and life changing experiences. As I always say- I'll do anything once.

For those of you who care- INTP on the Myers Briggs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

AirBnb is cool, and hotels are pretty posh but I guess what I'm seeking through couchsurfing is to gain access to the kind of experiences in new places that you cant get through the "Rick Steves Roma/Paris/Amsterdam Guide". I'm looking for authentic experiences with real people- and what better way to experience a new place than through the eyes of those who call it home.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Aside from moving to France by myself for a year to feel out some dreams- I did manage to tear my ACL three times in three years when I was in high school.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll talk about anything, and I like to learn about anything. I'm very rarely bored and almost impossible to bore by way of talking about something "uninterseting". By nature- I tend to find most topics interesting and worthy of discussion. I'd love to learn from you about anything you can teach me.

By way of what knowledge I have to offer- I studied philosophy and am always up for a rousing discussion of theories, existence, ethics, and the like. I have a particular love of language and linguistics and could wax poetic about the importance of regional languages and cultures for hours. I love poetry and literature.

I know a little bit about most things, a lot about some, and I'm always looking to know more. Basically, I'm a blast at trivia night.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and organize so anything of that nature is always on the table.

As previously stated I love a good discussion and I'm willing to talk about almost anything over a pint.

If you want help learning English- I'm on it. If you're looking to make a new friend- I promise I'll stay in touch. If you want someone to try to explain to you the atrocity that is the United States political nightmare of 2017.....well I'll try but no promises there. American culture- again...I'll try but no promises.
