Moving to Utrecht

ABOUT ME

I am just starting my Master's Program in Media Studies at Utrecht Universiteit and I love to teach and learn. I like debates, even heated ones. I do my best to help people out when they're in a jam. I'm moving to the Netherlands from Austin, Texas where I've been working as a pedicab driver. I've got a lot of stories to tell.

I've done a little hosting and surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My band has done two small u.s. tours and we slept on a lot of couches and floors. Everyone we met was extremely hospitable and after receiving that type of kindness, it's hard not to try and pass it on to someone else! I've also let lots of touring bands sleep in my apartment in Michigan. I've hosted a few surfers in Germany and Texas.

Interests

I like swimming in wild places and climbing trees and bridge-jumping. I play guitar and sing with anybody and everybody. I like to sew, mostly making messenger bags and backpacks. I like to play frisbee, especially midnight ultimate. I love to run where it's pretty.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a kid lick a wall of ice that was part of the penguin exhibit at the Detroit Zoo.
Two friends and I once built an igloo and ate pizzas and slept in it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English pretty well, I did that for a few years. I know a lot of French and Spanish and a little bit of German. I've had a lot of experience with language teaching and I'm especially good with explaining pronunciation.

I love learning about languages, literature, space, history, science, music, art, and most anything else that's not boring. Not sports.

I think I have a lot to share musically, in songwriting, in singing, in guitar-playing (but not all that meedly-meedly-Van-Halen stuff.) I can share the funny tales of my life. I wrote a jokebook once, I can tell you some jokes.
