About Me

**I'm sorry if I don't answer on time I'm quite busy and usually out in this period**

Hello! I'm Amaia. I am a visual artist and photographer, so I'm interested mainly in cultural issues but in a very open sense.
I develop artistic projects on photography and they are usually related to my personal experience in contact with many places demarcated by a certain complexity... I love cultural clashes.

I also like to go out hiking, travelling, knowing... and being in contact with "nature".
I enjoy watching any not-very-stupid movie, playing boardgames, and of course, I like meeting interesting people to share these experiences or at least to have a stimulating conversation. I tend to look for some fresh ideas to think and reconsider about... and I also consider originality, honesty, and self-criticism as some positive values, anyway, I specially enjoy mixing crazy ideas with some sense of humour!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Most of the time I can't host since I'm moving from one place to another, sometimes for curiosity, sometimes it's due to my work. But depending on the dates, if you happen to spend few days in the Basque Country, we could manage to make an interesting plan around.
Then, since I'm against the typical touristic attitudes (the ones that are causing the gentrification in our cities), I'm also interested in having the opportunity of knowing places that I visit introduced by local people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music...I like it ALL, from some basque rock music bands to Vivaldi's 4 seasons, it depends on my mood!
Recently I was listening to John Frusciante, Erykah Badu, Napoka Iria, Zea Mays, Lana del Rey...

The last book that affected me was "The radicality of love" by Srecko Horvat.
For different reasons I don't still know if I love or I hate Milan Kundera, Michel Houellebecq... waiting to have time and energy enough to read Virginia Woolf, Eva Illouz, Silvia Federici...and many others!
I also enjoy reading authors from those places I visit when I'm travelling.

Films...this is even more difficult. In the last years films by Yorgos Lanthimos made me go crazy. I also enjoy the intelligently stupid humour of Monty Python... although the films that I remember the most are awfully dramatic, like Andréi Zviáguintsev's " Leviathan " or Isabel Coixet's "Nobody Wants the Night" (...But I am a smiling and positive person, I promise! )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I could tell about few things. Incrediblily amazing for someone, simply stupid for others... let's leave a place for some mystery.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a curious person, I'm opened to learn whatever, even if I am mainly interested in art or in anthropologically focused issues. I could share with you how I develop my art projects, or to teach you something in euskera (basque) the oldest Western European language :)
