ABOUT ME
I hope they would say that I'm interesting and thoughtful---which matters far more than any particulars. Most recently I was working in Philadelphia for the Obama campaign, and before that I worked as a bike mechanic in San Francisco.
PHILOSOPHY
I should probably put a pretentious quote from Wittgenstein here or something.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Driving through the Atacama desert. It was my first experience in any sort of desert, and the Atacama is the most extreme. It's just---nothing. Nothing living, and nothing dead. Just flat plains of rocks strewn about. The Pan-American highway---which is two lanes wide---goes laser-straight for 25 miles at a time, and you can see oncoming trucks ten minutes before they pass. I have never been to a stranger or more desolate place.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a fair amount of higher mathematics, for a non-mathematician, and I like talking about it and teaching it. I've also worked as a bike mechanic and high school/college newspaper editor, and have an on-again/off-again relationship with the physical sciences.
