About Me
Hi!
A little about me... I've spent most of my 20s travelling and living in various countries including the US, Western Europe, Southeast Asia and most recently Australia. For the past 2 years I've been teaching literacy, mathematics and health in a secondary school in Melbourne. I love good food, coffee, learning about anything, talking about movies and pop culture, hiking and camping. I also really like cooking with people because I am trying to become more competent in the kitchen. Although, more than cooking, I love eating!
Most people describe me as friendly and upbeat and happy to go along for a ride. When I couchsurf, I like to give back as much as I can, whether that's cooking a meal to share or bringing a bottle of wine or dessert home. I don't think of couchsurfing as a free hotel; I want to make friends and learn about different cultures and ways of life. I am always respectful of the space I am in, I don't take generosity for granted and appreciate friendliness. And of course I clean up after myself :)
I would like to stay with open-minded folks.

Music, Movies, and Books
Science fiction anything!
Music: Anything I can dance to or lyrics that tell a story, folky stuff. I like The National, Chet Faker, Tegan and Sara, Paper Kites but definitely won't say no to some Taylor Swift or Elvis.
Movies: Huge movie buff right here. I worked for 8years in a Blockbuster (remember when DVD stores existed?!). Some favourites are: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Pleasantville, About Time, Christopher Nolan films, Wes Anderson films, Australian cinema, Quentin Tarantino films.
Books: I'm a fan of page turners, I like magical realism or sci-fi, and appreciate subtle commentary on society (same with movies!). Favourites include: Ender's Game, 1984, Great Gatsby, Time Traveller's Wife, Shadow of the Wind, any mediocre teen dystopian future novel, anything by Haruki Murakami or JK Rowling.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
That one time I dropped my toast and it landed jam side up.
:D
I've hiked to Mt Everest with my father!
Teach, Learn, Share
Cooking and music! I can teach basic guitar and would LOVE to learn other instruments. Would love to share music and stories and poetry and writing of any kind. And languages. And food!
I would like to get better at knitting, cooking, sewing, and playing the piano.
