Overview
About Me
As a Navy brat I grew up moving around every three years. I spent time in East Asia during my high school years and ended up in Pullman, WA for my undergrad. After college I did El Camino de Santiago with my dad and then moved to Charleston, SC. In Charleston I served in the AmeriCorps for two years working with Elementary aged students in reading. Next year I plan to go back to school to pursue my Masters in Public Administration.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel and explore new and old places. I think a great way to travel is by connecting with the people who live there and learning what it is they love about that place. I got introduced to the couchsurfing community here in Charleston and have loved them so much I decided to give surfing elsewhere a try.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy nonfiction books about religion, culture, sociology, or psychology. I enjoy pretty much all fiction books but particularly fantasy. I like a wide genre of music and enjoy dancing although I'm not all that great at it ;) Miyazaki is my favorite director and my favorite of his is Howl's Moving Castle although I just recently watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and it was pretty phenomenal.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Moved across the country by myself at 22.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not great with small talk but I love insightful discussions about the social world. I'm a pretty good listener and try to look at things from a number of perspectives while acknowledging my own biases. I can be cynical but think I've done pretty well to maintain a youthful innocence and excitement about the world around me.
