About Me

I recently moved to Alaska in search of winter, adventure, and job opportunities. I live with my boyfriend in a true Fairbanks style cabin - that is to say, there is no running water. If you think you can handle that for a night or two, we would love to host you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've spent the better part of my young adult years travelling around and doing things as cheaply as possible. Now that I have my own place, I want to help other people who are also trying to see the world on a dime.

Interests

Oh boy. I'm obsessed with literature and American history. I also love to hike, climb, garden, bird watch, track, and I want to do more in terms of fishing and wilderness survival. If you want to backpack or sit and read for a few days at a time, I'm your gal.

My boyfriend, who I share a cabin with, likes video games, cooking (he's a very accomplished professional chef), anime, magic the gathering, and he's trying to do more active outdoors things. If you want to play xbox live or watch endless episodes of One Piece, he's your guy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am entirely too many books to list.

My favorite music is anything in the blues, classic rock, or folk genre. I listen to pretty much anything though, and love seeing people get excited about their music. A friend of mine loves euro-pop, which is not at all my style, but when I see him get in the groove I swear I'm a euro-pop fan. I like it when people are enjoying whatever it is they're doing.

I'm not so much into movies, but when I do watch them I always enjoy a decent heist or western. The Italian Job and True Grit are two of my favorites. Oh, and I do love Wes Anderson. Because at the end of the day I'm quirky and his movies are on the same wavelength as my brain.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've laughed so hard I almost peed my pants.

People forget what a miracle pure, unadulterated happiness is.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Again, I have a modest home.

Like many young people in Fairbanks, I live in a one room cabin with no running water. (We use an outhouse and have a gym membership to shower.)

However, I have a car and can bring people to and from the airport and popular hiking locations. I can share food, my bike, and my couch. I can bring a guest with me to the gym to workout or shower, and I have access to many of the things that the campus can offer.
