About Me

Hey! (I'm really bad at writing about myself but here goes attempt no.1) I'm Chilean by heritage, but American by birth/nationality, by current location, and by (some say) personality (though this is debatable). I'm currently a graphic design major at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and I have just succeeded at no longer being a college freshman (hooray!) I spent a year abroad in Belgium instead of doing a senior year of high school and it changed my life so much that I probably reference my life in Belgium at least twice a day (im sorryyy).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While living abroad in Belgium (see?) I really learned the value of getting to meet people from different cultural backgrounds. I have also realized how much better traveling is when you have locals to help you experience cities as they truly are as opposed to how they are portrayed in movies/travel guides/google/etc.

Interests

I really enjoy discussing politics, art, art in politics, and politics in art (this sounds really pretentious but when I say "discussing" i actually really do mean like a conversation where it's not only me talking ya dig, I like hearing opinions)
I also really like watching movies, listening to music, walking places, eating, and coming into acceptance with the fact that I'm a hipster when it comes to some things (the first step is admitting the problem u know) but there's just something really cool about vinyl records

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really big on rock in general, leaning a little more towards classic rock at the moment though I've had indie/alternative rock phases that have stuck with me

I really love the work of Quentin Tarantino (Pulp fiction probably being my favorite, I know everyone says that but its really good, what can I say), of Wes Anderson (Fantastic Mr Fox taking the cake for me every single time), and of Michel Gaudry (the Science of Sleep is just the cutest lil thing). My favorite movie though is probably When Harry Met Sally simply because it's kinda timeless? and it's impossible to not feel good after watching it.

I havent read any books for pleasure in so long, but I'm working on getting back on top of that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Rome by myself for 3 days, which sounds really insignificant but it was probably one of the scariest yet most rewarding thing I've done in my life thus far.

Teach, Learn, Share

"The things that made you weird as a kid will make you great tomorrow"
a quote by the great James Victore (graphic designer) from whom most of my life quotes come from, he's a p cool dude

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope I can provide good company! I have experience living in other people's homes (as an exchange student we had to live with 3 host families) so I am always very concerned with being respectful of other people's space. I look forward to learning from each other, because that's what experiences are all about, learning!
