About Me

CURRENT MISSION

explore my new city!

ABOUT ME

Acquaintances might say that I'm shy, quiet and slow-to-warm-up...but once people get to know me, I'm really none of those things. :) I come out of my shell very easily when I'm around warm, open, inviting and kind people. Also when I've had a little booze.
I am a polite, respectful, compassionate, loving (though I tend to initially use humor to show this emotion), silly little vegan.
I want to be more open. I want to see and try new things. I've come to realize that life is about the experiences we have, not the things we buy.

PHILOSOPHY

"We must learn to be lost, graciously." --Circa Survive

I want to do things now, because I don't know how much time I have on this beautiful planet. I feel fortunate to have been given this life, and I think it would be awful of me to waste it. Life experience > material goods.
I want to make people happy, help animals, and generally just work my way towards hippie status I guess.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfed a bit during the road trip from DE to CA, and that has inspired me to return the favor. My roommates and I will be hosting surfers once we get our new apartment furnished!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Haven't surfed much, but it has been a positive experience, definitely. The old me would've chosen a hotel over a couch, but I quickly learned that surfing provides great life experiences. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Atmosphere, Brand New, Bright Eyes/Conor Oberst, Circa Survive, Chiodos, Cursive, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, Rise Against, Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, many others...

Movies: I like comedies (40 y/o Virgin, Sarah Marshall, Anchorman, Pineapple Express), documentaries (Food Inc, Food Matters, Happy, etc) and some dramas (can't think of any right now, totally blanking). Oh, and UP.

Books: Michael Pollan stuff, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Dork Whore...I don't read much anymore :(

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen: Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, a sky FULL of stars passing through the desert of AZ
Done: Randomly drove to Toronto from Niagara just for fun, climbed Dunns River Falls in Negril, hiked the Grand Canyon, ocean kayaked in La Jolla Cove...just drove across the country from DE to CA. I'm a Californian now!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can bake and decorate cakes/cupcakes quite well (not sure if that's helpful to anyone), I know a bit about healthy eating...
I would love to learn another language!
